Those relationships — and a desire to do things differently — ultimately led to the creation of Darkhorse Cargo.

Over the past several years, the trailer industry has undergone significant change. Rising material costs, tariffs, and market volatility have forced many manufacturers out of business. Industry consolidations have shifted priorities away from customers and toward corporate boardrooms. At the same time, manufacturer-owned retail locations have created growing conflicts between trailer builders and their independent dealer partners.
